Lyft is a privately held American transportation network company (TNC) based in San Francisco, CA. Launched in June 2012 by Logan Green and John Zimmer, the company's mobile-phone application facilitates peer-to-peer ridesharing by connecting passengers who need a ride with drivers who have a car.[1][2][3] Lyft now operates in over 200 U.S. cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City, and is valued at $5.5 billion.

Gett, previously known as GetTaxi, is an Israeli-based startup that connects customers with taxi drivers. Customers can order a cab either through the company's website, or by using the company's GPS-based smartphone app.[1] The app is compatible with iPhone, BlackBerry and Android platforms. Gett currently operates in more than 50 cities, including New York City, London, Moscow and 13 cities in Israel.
